Indonesia has long been one of the world’s largest cocoa producers, although production has gradually declined in recent years. In 2018, the country’s cocoa production stood at over 767,000 metric tons, and it dropped to around 632,700 metric tons in 2024. This was driven by various challenges, including extreme climate conditions, aging cocoa trees that impact both quality and productivity, and pest outbreaks. However, chocolate consumption has steadily grown, showing promising potential in the downstream market.
