Easter is one of the most popular holidays in Germany. It is eagerly anticipated after Christmas. Retailers often start selling Easter sweets, such as chocolate Easter bunnies and chocolate Easter eggs, as well as Easter and spring-themed home decorations quite early. Unlike Christmas, Easter does not have a fixed calendar date. The reason for this is that Easter falls on the first Sunday after the first full moon of the spring season. The official beginning of spring marked in calendars for 2022 was March 20.
