Food industry in Argentina - statistics & facts
Argentina is widely known as a leading producer and exporter of food and agricultural products. However, the South American country has faced economic hardship in the last decades, and even a recession in 2023 and 2024. The industrial production index (IPI) of food and beverages reached 155 points in August 2024, a value relatively similar to the one reported every August since 2016. Moreover, ever-growing food prices have also increased food insecurity. Despite these challenges, Argentina’s food industry is looking towards new technologies and adapting to the international market demands to remain competitive as a food provider to the world.
