In 2022, the UK
production value of poultry and poultry meat reached over 3.1 billion British pounds. This translated to an
output of around 1.96 million metric tons that year. The overwhelming majority of slaughtered animals were broiler chickens, followed by turkeys. Only a comparatively small number of boiling fowls and ducks are slaughtered every year. The
volume of meat produced from broilers, a chicken which is bred specifically for meat production, reached almost 1.8 million metric tons in 2023 in the United Kingdom.
Prices for producers and consumers are on the rise
