Consumption of alcoholic beverages in Germany - statistics & facts
Germany, the host of the Oktoberfest, is known the world over for its beer, but the domestic market is also represented by many other types of alcoholic beverages. Is the glass half empty or half full? Consumption levels have been changing in recent decades, both due to consumers exploring alternatives to alcohol and rising food prices across product categories. In fact, Germans drank less beer per capita in the last few years, with annual consumption falling to around 88 liters in 2022, compared to 106.6 liters ten years earlier. Wine drinking showed slight fluctuation as well, while sparkling wine and spirits consumption mostly remained the same.
