Victoria's Secret - Statistics & Facts
Victoria’s Secret is widely known for two things – the lingerie and the Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show, which made its return in 2024 after a six-year hiatus. This annual fashion show gathered thousands of viewers in the 2000’s and 2010’s so they could watch their favorite models, also known as Angels, walk the runway displaying the brand’s newest collection. The company was established in 1977 when American businessman Roy Raymond started his own women’s lingerie business and was originally part of Limited Brands which split into two independent companies in 2021 – Victoria’s Secret & Co. and Bath & Body Works, Inc.
Throughout the years Victoria’s Secret has branched out to selling other kinds of apparel, such as swimwear, footwear, and most recently athleisure due to popular demand. The brand also has its own beauty line, Victoria's Secret Beauty which has a selection of bath products, fragrances, and cosmetics.
Victoria’s Secret financials
The company generated revenues of 6.2 billion U.S. dollars in its 2024 financial year. This represented an increase of around 100 million U.S. dollars from the previous year, still keeping revenues above the six-billion-dollar-mark for the past four years. The same tendency could be observed with the number of Victoria's Secret stores in North America, consistently having more than 800 locations since 2021. Prior to these numbers, however, there were more than 1,000 locations, with many having been closed down due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Despite this setback, average sales per store have returned to pre-pandemic levels, reaching four million U.S. dollars in 2024.Competitors
Whilst Victoria’s Secret is one of the biggest names in apparel and underwear, there are other companies vying to grab the top spot. One of Victoria’s Secret’s biggest competitors is Calvin Klein, owned by PVH Corporation. Calvin Klein has a range of products, but the brand is particularly well-known for its line of underwear thanks to their consistently viral advertisements.
